November – The Month of Prayer for the Holy Souls

In the Catholic tradition, November is a special time to pray for the souls in purgatory, our loved ones who have gone before us and now await the mercy of God.

From November 1st to November 8th, the Church grants the faithful the opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence for the souls in purgatory when they:

Visit a cemetery and pray

Fulfill the usual conditions:

– Sacramental Confession

– Receive Holy Communion

– Pray for the intentions of the Holy Father is “for the prevention of suicide.”

Be completely detached from all sin, even venial.

This indulgence can be offered for one soul in purgatory each day during this period.
